Renewable Resources From Food Industry

A portion of our tie accessories are made of bio-based sugarcane molasses. Bio-based sugarcane molasses is made from high quality polymers for production of a low environmental impact raw material with state of the art and high tech technologies. The polymers have approximately 30% weight of bio-based content coming from sugarcane molasses which are residuals of the food industry, saving it from going to a landfill where instead it would produce and emit methane, a contributor to global warming.

CARBON NEUTRAL SUPPLIER SINCE 2009

The Italian supplier for our tie accessories was the 1st Italian industrial company and among very few in the world to receive carbon neutrality status since 2009. Being Carbon Neutral means having a net balance of CO2 emissions equal to zero. This includes not only the production process, but also use and disposal of the product. With a pioneering approach, the supplier reached this ambitious goal back in 2009, obtaining the much-coveted Carbon Neutrality certification from one of the strictest and most rigorous international certification bodies (TÜV SÜD).

Since 2009, the supplier has fostered a deep and constant commitment to sustainability to achieve continuous improvement with the company, and the numerous additional certifications it has obtained. Every year, the supplier measures the greenhouse gas emissions caused by the company’s activities and the product, from the beginning of the manufacturing process, including the raw materials, to the end of the product life cycle. It takes action to reduce them, offsetting residual emissions through Certified and Verified Offsetting Projects, intended to expand the use of renewable energy in the poorest and most disadvantaged parts of the world.

The supplier participates in green energy projects patronized by the UN around the world.  Such projects help improve conditions on the planet in economic, social and environmental conditions.

STANDARD 100 BY OEKO TEX

One of the world's best-known labels for textiles tested for harmful substances. It stands for customer confidence and high product safety. Find out here what STANDARD 100 means and why it is worth checking for this label when buying textiles.

If a textile article carries the STANDARD 100 label, you can be certain that every component of this article, i.e. every thread, button and other accessories, has been tested for harmful substances and that the article therefore is harmless for human health. The test is conducted by independent OEKO-TEX® partner institutes on the basis of our extensive OEKO-TEX® criteria catalog. In the test they take into account numerous regulated and non-regulated substances, which may be harmful to human health. In many cases the limit values for the STANDARD 100 go beyond national and international requirements. The criteria catalog is updated at least once a year and expanded with new scientific knowledge or statutory requirements. It is not easy for manufacturers and customers to keep an overview of the legal situation concerning harmful substances every day.
